This undersea diorama simulates live undersea corals using violet, ruby and aqua glass murinni canes.

The design is built by fusing individual sea creatures to the reef using a Lampworker's Torch.

The reef is then cased in a gather of crystal clear glass which magnifies it's colors and details.

Tropical coral reefs are rich ecosystems that flourish in crystal clear ocean waters that provide few nutrients.

Covering less than one percent of the world's oceans, they support one-quarter of all marine species.

Corals thrive through symbiosis with microscopic algae that live in the tissue of coral polyps.

Algae provide 90% of a corals energy by converting solar energy into organic nutrients: glucose, glycerol, and amino acids in response to carbon dioxide the coral provides fueling photosynthesis.

"Sorry for the delay on getting back to you about this. I actually found someone to take pics for me of the awards in DC. They look beautiful, and I hope we'll have more orders for you soon!"

Amy Green, B'nai B'rith International, Washington, DC
