||Rose Petal Bowl|
Item No. 1503
Blown glass sculpture strewn with the petals of a velvet rose in our basin styling.
A crimson and black glass frit combination is fused into the walls of this design which is pulled into partial translucency.
The effect captures ambient light in a manner that softens the petals while the black highlights define their edges.
We created this bowl to accommodate requests for a design that had both practical and artistic value. The price includes an engravable marble presentation base.
The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with their goddesses of love Aphrodite and Venus.
In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where confidential matters were discussed. The phrase Sub Rosa, or "under the rose" still means to keep a secret.
