Most ancient cultures featured autumnal harvest celebrations and the pumpkin is the most recognized symbol of the fall season.
Although pumpkins are usually orange or yellow, some fruits are dark green, pale green, white, red and even gray.
Our pumpkins derive their colors from nature. These same colors are also used in our Autumn paperweight and vase collection.
The origin of pumpkins is not known but the oldest pumpkin related seeds found in Mexico are dated
between 7000 and 5500 B.C.
Pumpkins are one of the most popular crops in the United States which produces 1.5 billion pounds each year.
In September 2007 Joe Jutras of Rhode Island won the national pumpkin weigh-off competition with a cream-colored 1,689 pound beast.
