Goblet Discovery  Item 1637

Check Box for engraving

Two 2nd-3rd Century AD Goblets discovered in Egypt.

This discovery required removal of twenty tons of dirt by students from the University of Michigan.

These archaeological digs lasted nearly 20 years beginning in the 1920's and progressing through the 1930's.

The earliest man-made glass objects were opaque glass beads thought to date back to 3500 BC Egypt and
Eastern Mesopotamia.

By 3000 BC the basic raw materials of glass were being used to produce glazes on ceramic pots in central Mesopotamia.
