In the final stages of entering our atmosphere the Comet, with one blue shock wave remaining, has melted to a smooth finish and is glowing from the intense heat of atmospheric friction.

This effect is created by replacing the second shock wave with fumed 24kt gold and adding a gold mirror finish to the exterior. The price includes an engravable marble presentation base.

The Stardust spacecraft launched in 1999 took detailed pictures of a comet. When slower comets encounter supersonic solar winds a bow shock is formed at the comets leading edge. This causes cometary ions to load the solar magnetic field with plasma which forms the comets distinctive ion tail.

"Just got the piece and it is gorgeous!!! I can't wait for it to be presented by the Honor Roll of Excellence Magnet Students to their Lead Science Magnet Teacher this coming Friday! Thanks for all your help, and please count on me for promoting and referring your studio to others."
