Item No. 1899
Advance planning and shop preparation are required before attempting any large complex design.
To train up to an advanced piece the team produces conceptual versions employing similar techniques but
with lower overall risk.
This allows for experimentation that informs the process which ultimately leads to the final mature design.
The weight, scale and complexity of the early attempts are designed to challenge the team while putting them within reach of the proposed design.
The Lavender Rainbow is an early generation version of the concept piece called Waterspout (see item #1734).
These fluid designs model stop action photography of splash reflexes as they occur in nature. Each sculpture
is its own unique expression of this natural phenomena.
