This teardrop sculpture created for the Dole Pineapple Company depicts a Kilauea lava flow in the Hawaiian Islands.
The colors that make up the interior are the result of many color experiments.
The goal was to capture the essence of flowing lava with it's cooler outer shell and luminous molten fire beneath.
The design is inspired by Hawaii's renowned lava flow images including the 33 foot tall Pahoeoe Fountain captured on film in 1983.
We believe our Kilauea captures the essence of these dramatic 2,200 degree rivers of molten rock.
The Island of Kilauea is the present home of Pele, the volcano goddess of Hawaiian legend.
