Yellow opaque glass powder with ruby transparent frit are used to simulate the color of flame and ember.

The molten transparent colors are threaded over the opaque then pressed into a diamond patterned optic mold.

This produces ridge that refract multiple images off the surrounding clear casing glass.

The design is our impression of an uncontrolled mountain wildfire.

In 2002 we moved our studio to Southern Oregon during one of the worst wildfire seasons on record.

Beginning July 12, a series of lightning storms started hundreds of small wildfires.

Earlier fires in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, had pulled resources from the Pacific Northwest leaving insufficient fire crews when the fires merged and burned out of control for six months.

The Biscuit Wildfire, named after Biscuit Creek, burned nearly 500,000 acres of the Siskiyou National Forest.
