This example from our dragon series is created by applying ice blue transparent glass threads over a virgin white molten substrate.
The combination is fused at 1,800 degrees and pressed into a diamond optic prior to casing in crystal clear glass.
During my research for this new series I stumbled onto renderings of dragons from blocks of ice.
I was captivated by this sculptural art form that has the appearance of glass, but only survives six hours at room temperatures.
Ice is a fitting medium for mythical creatures which melt into pools of water then evaporate without a trace.
I've included an example on the left, along with images of the specialized tools used in this unique art form.
