A lavender blue mix of opaque and transparent colors are fused over a layer of white glass powder.

The combination is heated in a glory hole furnace before tooling and twisting the material to create voids that trap air bubbles in the design.

We then case the colored gather in crystal clear glass and begin the process of stretching the color elements into soft transparency.

The design is inspired by Sequim Washington which lies at the foot of the Olympic Mountains.

Sequim is the Lavender Capital of North America, rivaled only by France, and has some of the most scenic, scented farms in the Pacific Northwest.

My favorite use of the flower is a monofloral honey local bees produce from lavender nectar called Purple Haze.

Beekeepers in the region plan their harvest to maintain the character of this unique local product.
