The feathering technique adapted for this design dates back nearly 200 years.

The colors capture the essence of the Hyacinth Macaws plumage with its soft textures and gradations of color.

The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest of all parrots with a mature male reaching over 40 inches in length.

They are intelligent, social creatures gathering in flocks of 10 to 30 individuals in the Central and South American rain forests.

Mating for life they share their food, nest and grooming responsibilities over a 60 year life span.

Females have clutches of one or two eggs and incubation lasts about a month.

Chicks leave the nest after 110 days but remain dependent till reaching six months. Breeding begins at seven years.

Hyacinth Macaws feed almost exclusively on the nuts of palms so hard they're difficult to break with a heavy hammer.

Their beaks deliver over 200 pounds per square inch enabling them to easily crush a coconut into pulp.

In captivity they can snap a broomstick and disassemble the bars on welded wrought iron cages.
